Back from Manchester

That was a busy week. Catching up with old and good friends, colleagues; meeting with the supervisor in case he forgot what I am like; being seduced to do some shopping ( got several good spots!); having a taste of a newly open restaurant; spending a half day out in one most beautiful garden I have ever seen in UK; watching one movie; having a haircut; finally, doing some serious work (that was necessary, because, after all, it was not a holiday!)

The biggest surprise is that I met a Fresher PhD. After a talk, it ends up that he was once undergraduate classmates of my best friend back to many years ago. What a small world!

It's really a small world. Last time my classmate of junior high ,who is studying in the U.S., told me that one of her classmate is my classmate in college. It's incredible!

Recently, Pinpin and I talked about the French food you two prepared for us. We said that meal at least cost 20GBP. It's really unforgetable. And the white wine is also very good. Could you give me the name of the white wine? I wanna buy it. Maybe I can get it in Taiwan. ~Cerita

Cerita, I will answer your question later, in the post.

Cerita, it moved us a lot that the meal we treated you impressed you that much. We are happy to see you enjoyed it a lot, because that is the one we elaborately designed. Very French! It is weired to see you count the cost, however, because I hope you would not use the cost to justify the value of the meal only.

I remembered we had the steak, right? Only that steak's price is 20/kg. It is not supermarket ones, but the Aberdeen one with 40 days maturing. Foie Gras was from France and that is the good one. All breads and the dessert were from Paul here. I wanted to explain you more of the meal on that night, but my hubby was feeling a bit embrassed to
leak out a little bit showing off of our meal. Well, I didnot know the cost of the meal would interest you that much.

That white wine is Chablis. It is made of Chardonnay grape and comes from the villiage of Chablis. You know, red meat goes with red wine. Since we had the steak, we could have had red wine. The reason we had white wine is that white wine goes with froe gras and we had only white wine, brought back from France, at that time. ( we have not bought any wine in UK yet.)
